Scholarship Information

CTDOT is pleased to be able to offer scholarships to eligible program participants for the purpose of sending administrative staff, drivers, or maintenance personnel to training events, conferences, and seminars. Eligible recipients include: FTA Section 5311 transit operators and FTA Section 5310 recipients (non-profit organizations that receive federal and/or state funding for the procurement of transit vehicles). Scholarship funds may be used to reimburse participants for registration fees, travel and transportation, lodging and meals and may not exceed $1,000 per individual.

All requests for scholarships are reviewed by CTDOT and are awarded based on the following criteria:
  • demonstrated need
  • applicability of the training opportunity to the proposed attendee
  • availability of funds
Applications will be processed by CTRTAP and then submitted to CTDOT for review.

Please submit your requests a minimum of 30 days prior to the date of the training program to allow enough time for review.

Please note that all applications must be accompanied by back-up documentation including additional information on the program such as a printed agenda and formal estimates to document all costs including registration fees, travel and transportation, lodging and meals. All receipts submitted for reimbursement must be itemized to include details on all purchases made and indicate proof of payment. Note that federal per diem rates for meals and incidental expenses are dependent on the locality. Please view this link for a list of current rates http://www.osc.ct.gov/2016memos/numbered/201618.htm.

Copies of all receipts and proof of payment must be submitted to CTRTAP within 7 days of attending the conference or training. The reimbursement of costs to recipients is based on the actual costs as documented by the receipts and proof of payment received. Because the reimbursement amount is based on actual costs, the reimbursement amount may differ from the pre-approved amount. Reimbursement may not exceed $1,000
